Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

Subject: You have been reported!

Dear NewGrounds

We got a report on you. The FBI has to investigate this.

If it ends up being crime you can get from 5 to 20 years in prison. Because of this, we need more information about you so we can investigate further.

We are going to ask you for some infotmation later on in this email. You'll need to reply with all the information needed and it must be accurate and valid. After this we will contact you again with information on this case.

WARNING: If you do not reply within 72 hours, we will send special forces to get the needed info from you.

We need all the information below:

Title. First name. Middle name. Last name. Telephone number. Company (your name if none). Street address. Country. City. State, region or province. Zip/postial code. Name of the bank you use. Telephone of the bank you use. Current balance on bank account. Credit or debit card from bank provided. Name as shown on card. Card number. Expiration month. Expiration year. Security code from back of card.

Copy the needed information list and write your information next to everything. Reply to this email with it.

NOTE: If you do not have a credit or debit card, go to your bank and get one.

Know that your information will be safe in the FBI directories.

I dunno guys, I mean this SOUNDS legit right? And all my info will be safe in the FBI directories so it should be fine to send them all that info.

E-mail them back with one sentence: "You'll never take me alive."

Hand out false information and see what happens? ;D

lmfao, seems legit

Should'nt they have explained what you did first?

Actually I did some research there is a hoax coming around

You better give them the infotmation, bro. That's serious.

hey tom this have any thing to do with us ?

Oh my! I hope they also won't require Blood and Semen samples too!

"How about I show you the size of my di..."

Quit making fun of my letter.

April Tricks Tom!
April tricks.

Should send back a counter FBI claim stating that they caught these criminals and that you require all their information with the banks where they live who they sleep with, what they drink in the morning. Unless they want the Super Duper Special Force Special Elite Detachment of Internet Fraud Drugs and Alcohol. Or for short The SDSFSEDIFDA to come to their place and harass them for 5 to 20 years.

seems legit

well looks like all the "investigation" that apears in the movies was a joke but i wonder they have ask the same things to osama? ....LOLs :D

Wow this is something...

Tom that prison sentence seems a little vague, you should clarify just how many years you'll be getting if you don't send them the information.

wow using the FBI as a scam is really low, find there email address and email this to them.

April Foo...no wait, it's september. OHoh! :U

Better call G.W.B. dun dun dun.

They wrote Newgrounds wrong. Also I think they would call you and not use that awfully secured Email system.

I wouldn't reply for the following reasons:

1. Subject title: "You have been reported!" This seems too similar to those other scam titles, such as, "You have won (such and such contest)!" It's also more informal and direct than a letter from an FBI agent would be required to send you (At least, I hope that is the case here...)
2. They addressed you as "NewGrounds." I would think that, in a formal investigation letter, they would at least be required to use your legal name.
3. They should have quoted the report to give you a reason for the accusation (BEFORE they take your information).
4. The information they want is rather generic (Especially since they're addressing you directly) and is specifically financial related.
5. I'm fairly certain they're not allowed to force you to go get a credit / debit card to provide them with the information they have requested.
6. I would think that the FBI agent in charge or part of the investigation would have included their name in the e-mail, since this investigation is being done by a group of individuals ( subject to liability in how they handle the case ) in the organization, not by the organization as a whole.

Basically, the e-mail is threatening you with criminal accusations and trying to get you to trust them with your financial information BEFORE giving you a reason for their investigation.
If they do bother to send "special forces" to acquire your information, be cautious and make sure the people they send are legit before giving them anything. (a REAL, RELEVANT warrant, etc.)

Scammers are crafty these days, so just wait or confirm this with the FBI directly (NOT the e-mail address used to send this letter of investigation).

This is suspicious...

I mean... you're telling us to give you the bank account AND the number of our credit card...
i don't think this is true. Sorry if I dissapoint you, but i'm not going to give you my information. even if I en up in jail.
