i dont think so because the oil is on top of the water while we would stop the oil from spewing out of that we still would have to clean up and do something about the oil on top

And no you cannot nuke the oil leak in the gulf. THINK this was for GAS and on LAND and this is a leak with OIL and UNDERWATER. there was nothing there when they nuked this leak. but think about what's down in the gulf. Figure it out.
