Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

I submitted a Bug Report to Adobe about the Chrome build of the Flash Player a little while ago.

Not sure if it's an AS3 specific problem, but when I play a sound effect in the game we're building at the moment there's a small, very irritating lag time between when the action occurs and when the sound plays. This isn't an issue in anything but the Chrome flash player.

I FIGURED IT OUT! In the address bar, type "about:plugins" and disable Chrome's built-in Flash plugin. It'll run off the player on your computer which gave me 0 lag. Not sure who's fault that one is...

1: What's AS2? 2: Did you make sure that you have everything updated? 3: I think you might mean 'or' instead of 'of'. And 4: Are you sure it's Google Chrome, and not the computer? Maybe it was something else.

I've noticed this as well. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a shitty programmer. I just do what I need to do to get my game to work. I definitely prefer working on the art side.

With that said, something definitely happened at some point either with browsers or Adobe that caused a ton of people to have lag issues with Alice. It's really bizarre.

When I tried it in Chrome, it lagged really bad like you said.

But then I tried MSGhero's suggestion and the game works fine in Chrome now. Chrome seems to run your local Flash Player and the Flash Player installed in Chrome at the same time by default. My Chrome happened to be running 2 versions of Flash Player at the same time.

Hope this helps.

I always liked Firefox, I always that it was for some subconscious reason, now I know why. o_o

This is one of the reasons why I don't have a favorable opinion of Chrome. I'm sticking with Opera although the computer that I have it on is horribly old.

Tom speaks the truth guys

You like AS2 Also? High five!

Also, if you go into about:plugins and disable chrome's flash player, it should reduce the lag :)

Java does the same running-multiple-versions-at-once thing :/

I am 70% sure this has to do with sticking complicated code inside the keydown / mousedown events instead of setting a flag and doing the complicated work in Enter Frame

_root.as2 > _root.as3

I've always just thought that chrome was pretty darn slow for everything but youtube.

I find that every browser doesn't work except for Opera. FIrefox and Chrome used to be cool, but now they're not :(

I knew it was a hint after reading Carl's jr.'s messages

Also Tom I recently lost my keys and the keychain is no longer in the store, in fact many of the toy items are missing. What put them out of production?

holy balls I thought it was just my shitty comp but now flash games are running a lot faster.

Does this mean that we're getting a fix? I like chrome too much to switch.

Opera is best browser.

AS2 for life!
