So for months now, I've been dealing with this bad stomach pain. I thought it was an ulcer brought on by the stress of Castle Crashers, but I got checked out and don't have an ulcer. Instead I have pre-ulcer conditions that could lead to an ulcer.
I first started taking Prevacid, for acid reflux. It helped with some of the reflux symptoms but I still had regular stomach pains, waking up every morning with stomach pain and having regular pains at times throughout the day. I was diagnosed with having a spastic stomach and given Metoclopramide, a "potent dopamine receptor antagonist." This actually worked and my symptoms pretty much went away, but the side effect was that I was a lot more tired and became totally unmotivated. I actually started falling asleep on the couch at night in front of the TV, which I never do - I usually have to force myself to bed. I was also more tired in the morning, although I always hate mornings... But I think it really was making me get DEPRESSED.
The one month of pills ran out and I've shifted back to being more alert and awake, but the stomach pain is back. I don't know if another month could solve things once and for all, or what. In the meantime, I've been trying to fix up my diet... I'm drinking tea instead of coffee and trying not to eat too much in one sitting. The really troublesome part is that beer doesn't sit very well... I wanna kick this before the UK Meetup so I can drink like a champ, but I have a bad feeling I'm gonna be nursing bottles sloooooowly. So anyway this is a heads up.
May 2022 Update: It turns out Metoclopramide crosses the blood brain barrier, which was the problem there. I actually took a medicine for months after this that wasn't supposed to cross the blood brain barrier but it made me really lethargic and it was later discovered that it DOES cross the blood brain barrier and I recall it was discontinued... But I don't remember the name right now, probably because it made me a hazy mess during that period.
I ultimately got an upper endoscopy and was diagnosed with an incompetent esophageal sphincter and a hiatal hernia. Basically my esophagus no longer opened and closed and my stomach had worked its way up in there. Nowadays I take Prevacid and Dicyclomine, which do a decent job with my stomach issues.
