By active supporters, do you mean strictly month to month or are the yearly supporters included in that figure? I could probably make the switch to monthly if that's better for Newgrounds.
I think these profile borders are an excellent addition and a step in the right direction! I think adding more ways for supporters to customize their profiles would entice more people to support.
There was a twitter thread a while ago where a few people and myself had discussed being able to better control what's displayed on your profile (custom showcases handpicked by the user or sorted by views/score or something instead of strictly most recent), I think that might be an interesting thing to look into while yall're making changes to the user pages.
Also I really enjoy the larger thumbnails in user upload pages and the ability to sort and search! Keep it up :D
p.s. is there anything on the roadmap regarding newgrounds api?
The total includes yearly supporters but it also includes a lot of single month supporters, who will expire next month.
In terms of what helps NG the most, I like monthly subs because it creates a consistent budget and does pay more over the course of the year. Right now the majority of Supporters have opted for one year vs one month, so before Paypal fees it's the equivalent of $2 per month vs $3 per month.
Most optimal would technically be to volunteer $36 per year for a yearly, which would be what you would pay if you paid monthly but would be less Paypal fees for NG. For every $3 payment, NG receives $2.60 after fees, for every $25 payment we get $23.64 after fees.
We actually default to $5 for the monthly now, with the option to choose $3 and most people still go with three. $5 makes a solid difference, so it's been tempting to eliminate the $3 option and grandfather existing subs. Hard to say how much of a turn-off that would be.
Custom showcase on user pages is definitely something we wanna do. I basically want people to be able to dump the contents of a playlist into a box on their user page, with a limit on how many are shown before you go to the full list for more. This way you could make a playlist called "My Favorite Cat Movies" and turn that into a box right in your userpage.
Adding the ability to make a playlist of playlists would address a recent Xinxin suggestion to be able to sort which playlists are on his page. He could make a Featured Playlists list, pop that in and hide his Latest Playlists box if he doesn't want it there.
With the NG API the next update was gonna be Cloud Saves but no ETA on that at the moment.
