Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

Goofy ass nails

Money machine had me tripping for days after I heard it.

I LOVE hyperpop! It’s one of those genres that scratches my little neurodivergent brain in just the right spots. I remember first hearing about it when it when discovering the PC music channel on YouTube back in early 2016 with stuff from A. G. Cook, Danny L. Harle, the legendary SOPHIE (R.I.P.) and Hannah Diamond (btw my fave Dorian Electra music video is Gentleman/M’lady). And I was HOOKED! I also really love how quite a lot of the artists explore gender identity within the genre and are not afraid to show it, we need more artists like that. Do you reckon we’ll get a hyperpop genre filter in the audio portal one day? because I’d love to explore the best hyperpop jams that NG has to offer! BTW lemme know if you need more hyperpop artist recommendations because I’m more than happy to share ‘em!

We've been keeping a list of potential genres and at some point I should make a front page post about it and finally nail down a bunch of new genres in the system. Because there are so many genres, it gets tempting to ditch our hard-coded genre system and just let people rely on tags. The old genre system still has its usefulness though.

So there was a bit of a culture clash between hardcore NIN fans and that band? Absolutely, there are people who loves a certain “type” of music and wants to stick with just the one. I would be taken a back too if I came to a video game orchestra concert then suddenly Jay-Z pops in as the opening singing some of his classics.
I guarantee most of the audience there don’t even know who 100gecs is (I didn’t, I tell you that much), and by just hearing a few seconds of “mememe”, they were all probably surprised as all hell! I would laugh my butt off if I heard someone in the audience scream “WHAT THE F#$&!?” as they were playing!

I like 800db cloud (just realised I never actually learned the name of that song despite listening to it every so often)... and Stupid Horse, obviously.

Very interesting.

@itsreddqueen @TomFulp I will be glad to see Trap, Hardcore, Breakbeat, Garage which includes Future Bass, Electro and Electro Swing, especially the first two because it makes me angry when i look for such songs in Dance category which is so trashy right now.

Fun Fact if you didn't know, Rebecca Black( yes THAT Rebecca Black) is now a hyperpop artist, even remixed Friday featuring Dorian Elektra, Big Freeda and 3OH!3

I love this post so much. Thank you Tom, very cool update :3

100 gecs is wonderfully experimental. Their use of littealterboy (the vocal effect) is incredible. If you get a chance listen to their unreleaseds, specifically Can U Hear Me Now?, Socials (Ft. Alice Gas), Torture Me, and Miss U are great from their live discog.

I saw you speaking about genres, too, I would love to see Indie make it into the genre sublists! A lot of my stuff is all over Indie or at least it's generic enough of a term for me to qualify under xD.

Appreciate everything you do man and cool to see you putting the spotlight on such an interesting and experimental duo!

I love money machine, Mr. Tom Fap.
