I wanna live in the Newgrounds enclave
Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

I wanna live in the Newgrounds enclave
I did the same thing, watched a bunch of videos around towns in Michigan. Then moved to videos of towns on the outskirts of China, and how incredibly different they are from the mainland, towns bordering Russia and towns bordering Afghanistan are basically two different worlds.. I think there was one video blog of a man in the US who bought a mining town and was repairing it all by himself.. I stopped watching when he accidentally blew up a 100-year-old saloon :/ The 'alternative Gallery' here in Allentown rents out spaces to artists, and it's pretty great, lots of cool traditional artists there.
. Though the neighborhood is kinda rough.
Well hey, thanks for the hours of viewing material!
I find it genuinely fascinating the way that Attention has shifted to being the new currency and everything is just trying to keep you locked in on it for profit, it really does feel like everything is 'Porn' now. I've recently taken a passing interest in etymology and one thing I've been reading up on is the way that the internet and social media algorithms affect the development of language, its really interesting (and scary!) how much these platforms influence our current culture.
Well, this was fun to read. Makes me feel educated now!
Thanks, Tom!
I love The Sopranos reference.
Something similar you might enjoy is @RyanStorm's Boston Burbs series

Thanks, Tom, for telling me. Now I'm going to play Google.exe. By the way, dear Tom, do you know about a game called Google.exe?
glad you're taking the time to talk about economic divide and private capital. definitely some things anyone should learn about to get an idea of where we're headed.
Going 2 bookmark, tysm for posting.
There's this paranormal phenomenon in South Dakota (I think), called the brown mountain lights, and they're literally just balls of light that appear in the mountains every once in a blue moon and they're completely unexplained.
Whenever I'm feeling down I think of those lights.
I always love it when Tom Fulp goes down to earth.
Bro just dropped in with random info and left lmao. I felt my brain get a lil more wrinkled, thank you for helping me finally grow my 4th braincell, I needed that.
Listening to the videos you linked while I work and just figure life out, thank you :)
I grew up in a tiny mountain town that gets treated like 'omg it must be amazing' by tourists who visit or travel blogs but it's a difficult place to make a living. When my wife and I were looking to move back to be close to family we couldn't find anything within our price range and we had a modest but respectable budget. We ended up buying a place outside of a larger town an hour away from our preferred towns. We love our place but we aren't as close to family as we had hoped.
This area has been trying for a long time to jumpstart artist collectives and sadly most attempts have failed. There's currently a housing development being built in my wife's hometown that is setting aside a certain number of units for working artists to live in. But the biggest art studio in town just closed it's doors because it couldn't afford to keep going.
I think you have come about as close as anyone to build an artist collective with the Newgrounds office. I know you've had some guys staying there from time to time using the space to work on their projects. I know it's not the great big happy artist commune you always dreamed of but it's still damn impressive and I am glad you've been able to do it!
@i9inche Humans have thought the end times were coming since we've existed, and we're still here. Downfall isn't coming anytime soon.
Wow, cool to see Shankweiler's get a little shout out.
this world is very interesting
thabks for the reccomendations
Everything really is porn now. It's kinda hard, especially considering I'm really into ASMR but everything kinda has those porn undertones. I wonder how this is going to affect future generations.
