But that's kind of the thing right, none of those guys are here to see whats going on in the newsposts or to look around at other artists and pick out favorite submissions or check what's going down in the BBS or even vote on anything at all. So of course they aren't going to pop into this thread and object.

On the other hand though, don't you think it'd risk giving off the appearance of being xenophobic or elitist to start demanding that people be more active on NG in order to be a part of things? I dunno... I mean it's tricky ground for sure but yeah these games are still awful and really nobody gives a shit about them.

It's easy for users reading to say "Just let them be" . And that is a nice thought. But I'm sure, like everything, Newgrounds has a limit. I don't think mass blamming these cookie cutter/stolen games goes against the Newgrounds grain.

I know that Newgrounds is all about everything by everyone. What I'm liking in seeing the growth of this site is that it applies very well in the sense that there isn't a cookie cutter newgrounds submission. You can laugh at that comment and try to correct me with saying "Dick jokes are really newgrounds, or video game parodies". Wel like everything, obviously there's always going to be a majority. Nothing is evenly equal. I'd say that over the years of being on this site, I've seen a lot of new and different kinds of artists have been becoming a part of the community, especially since the art portal. Let's hope that only grows more as new portals open.

My point is that yes, I do agree. Everything by Everyone is a fitting slogan. Now, there's two ways of going about that. It could mean "Everyone can put something here"- or "The Best Of all Types"

essentially, Tom. You need to pick a path between quantity or quality. Both are completely legit, and awesome. But Youtube already picked the quantity path and will be on top of that for quite a while. So if you don't want newgrounds to turn into a cookie cutter version of youtube, I think the other is a better option.

But that's just me.

I completely agree with Tom's last paragraph. If anything I think the main thing this site has as opposed to Youtube, is that it's a lot more personal and tight nit of a group. I think making it more clear who did what for each submission is incredibly important. Creating some way to enforce filling out all that info you need to fill when submitting something would probably also help the Cutting out the Crap process. Maybe.

oh by the way, I don't want to come off elitist by saying quality over quantity. I think there's ways of cutting out the fat without trimming any meat. if that makes any sense.

Apocalypse. If Newgrounds was made for anything besides Flashes and Games with real effort (and dick jokes), it wouldn't be Newgrounds.
Or if some group suddenly arises to the defense of these games with swords in hand, make a collection entitled "Cookie Cutter"

This is somethin that annoys me all the time.
You see these people on FlashGameLicense sometimes with like 20 games called Rhino Run, Hedgehog Hurdle, Hippo Race n so on, and it's all the same thing. They're such dicks.
It's like I GOT $1000 FOR A GAME I MADE IN ONLY 5 DAYS HAHAHA! n it's like some boring catapult thing made out of squares n circles.

Blam them all to hell, NG should promote creativity, and a healthy system that takes out the trash I think would promote the idea of needing to create something that goes outside of the scope of normality would inspire people to make more worthwhile things

I say we hold 2 seperate ends of the site
1 end has the flash games/movies/music/ect from recognized accounts
the other has the "cookie cutters" or "undiscovered genius"
just like how the art portal has users being scouted, maybe we should integrate that with the rest of the scene?

I have always thought the blam protection score requirement should be higher. Of course there is the occasional gem that gets a low score due to a lack of mainstream appeal (didn't the first Jerry Jackson get blammed?) but 99% of the time I think that a game or movie that isn't scoring at least a 3 (or dare I say it even higher) doesn't really deserve to be on here. This is proven for so many movies and games that disappear in to obscurity and take up space. I think people should be encouraged to push the envelope and do their best. 3.0 ratings are very achievable for many artists and programmers and if you can't reach that kind of rating then perhaps your content is not good enough YET.

I vote mass blamming. People can (usually) reupload submissions without consequence anyway, so we might as well make it a little harder for "cookie cutters" to get by.

Well just noticed a reply sort of made me sad face. I think the adult section does deserve to be promoted. Maybe filtering them out of the award section is good but don't push it ot the background.

Support the section, maybe give its own set of medals and front page attention like audio, games and movies get. Maybe clean up the adult section I mean...a lot of the first things people see are out of date.

There are tons of artists out there and people who make unique, original material. Sadly Meet 'N Fuck is all that people notice and the real people that put effort into their work and actually could benefit from the prompting never get noticed.
