Yeah it always feels good to get some acknowledgment for the early stuff... Like history won't just start with YouTube and totally pass us by.
ohhh yeah i think i've seen this like 2-3 years ago, or maybe it was another scientific study of newgrounds. I just remember it stating that the star syndicate was cool, which was neat.

Funny you mention that - I actually did read over that list, wondering if there was any big take-away that could apply to the site. Really a lot of that could just apply to tag suggestions though. :P
I really agonized over our game genres and I'm always second-guessing whether I did it right. I'm excited for everyone to see them finally in action when the redesign launches.

Also: I didn't know that the 5-star rating system emerged on NG before it appeared on YouTube. Who knew?
With the publishing of that book, I'll bet that Newgrounds will gain an additional 25 new users (i.e., from those who read the book).
If anyone got passed up in history, its ABS. they kind of asked for it by never changing their format though. NG has just kept on evolving over time and has always stayed relevant somehow.

You know, Tom, I'm very thankful you founded this site and made it what it is today. There's so much history I wish I could've seen grow. I wonder how often you look back on it.
And I hope you continue to make great decisions. Because, so far, you have. Hell, that's evidenced by just how long this site has lived and pioneered what many other sites are doing now. :)

All the genres that have appeared on my games so far have been spot on, so if the redesign uses the same or similar system then I'd say you did a great job. :3
