Who cares if they don't know the owner and/or the man/men behind?
I use a handfull of sites every day, but know nothing about the people behind them, varing from comics to porn sites.
I know and you know that NG is ruled by a dumb kid (offense Tom). But if you only are here to play some games or look at some hentai which won 250$ (I still can't belive that!), then why bother reading about the kid behind it?
The reason I posted that wasn't about them not knowing who I was... Although I'm realizing now that's how a lot of people are looking at it. It was really a demonstration of how people can come to NG every day for years, and have no clue about what the site is or how it works. But then again, if the mission is to show them great movies and games, then I guess they figured that much out. :)
I'm not surprised. There's bound to be a lot more people than what's portrayed by the BBS and the Audio/Flash portals.

or you could just make the "about newgrounds" link a different color, or bolder, or maybe something to catch user's atention... a little frontpage text, like 2 lines long like years ago, would work :)

I see what you're saying, Tom. I came here for about a year before I actually knew about the Portal, you, the mods, admins, ranks, and even accounts. I would just click the Toons or Games buttons at the top, and just use the site from there. I have friends who show me things on here who found them in these sections. I'd guess that about 25% of the people who go here regularly just come here for the games and movies, but, then again, that's the whole point of the site, is it not?
I know it is. I have stickers and I put them around and some times (rarely) I get comments from strangers. They think the site is mainly a video game site.
Some people in a few of my computer classes go to the site, but don't post or know how to use it.
Hm. It's like that with a lot of sites though. A lot of people have that mentality of "Just show me the best and fuck the rest" I think they're missing the best though. Community is what drives me to NG everyday.
