Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

I have a question!
Adobe Flash Player will shut down in January 2020 or December 2020?

The current roadmap for Chrome actually has a big milestone THIS MONTH:

"Flash will be disabled by default, but can be enabled in Settings at which point explicit permission is still required for each site when the browser is restarted."

To my understanding, this means the browser will act like Flash has been removed but you'll be able to activate it if you go into your settings - something the general public probably won't bother with.

The next milestone is December, 2020:

"Flash support/ capability will be removed from Chromium."

That's the big one.

is there any way that you could make newgrounds player compatible with chrome

Will there be any support for mac/linux in terms of the games working on desktop? grew up on these games. ..hope linion rpg will still live... Thank you for your hard work

Ideally we'll have something for Mac and Linux but right now we're still wrapping up the PC version and seeing how it goes over. If Flash emulation is coming along well enough we might try and support that more instead.

TomFulp the HERO of NEWGROUNDS!! Also the COOLEST ASSHOLE!!!!

I use Animate to create HTML5 Animations because is so easy and so solid the result. And to make games on Adobe-(Harman now) Air too. Flash Player for web is dead, period, but the technology isn't..

Hey Tom Fulp, I've been using you Newgrounds Player and I'm loving it so far. The problems I see is that some games that are running on it seem to have background issues or something. Games like "I Am An Insane Rogue AI" is the example here is the link: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/560065

Anyways, it saddens me to see the removal of flash when 2020 hits. Stuff like this post makes me happy, however. To keep the work that others have made from years ago to never be lost in time and i'm happy that many people share the same thought of preserving it, For old times sake.

Hope N.P. works great when the beta stages end, really looking forward to it! :D

This makes sense

I would always like to be able to bring back old newgrounds designs, like the one from 2012 to 2017, or older ones :(
Very, it is a pity, Cho gone player with visualizations, so same emerged in 2012, he was the most the best!

the abandonware copy of flash mx i found on archive.org still works amazingly fine on WINE. the power of linux.

Yes!!, I can play Abobo's Big Adventure in 2021!!

Best wishes on cheap chocolates after today, love to you and yours always!

tom pls fix newgrounds player from freezing when i press enter.

and you might wanna fix spam

Hey sir, I got your PM, but I can't respond to it - I get a message saying I have disabled private messaging, but I can't find a setting to change that. Yes, I'd love that invitation!

Updated! You can toggle your PM settings by clicking the "Options" link in the header of your PM inbox - next to the Sentbox link.

And there is our Hero. Tomp Fulp, whom have been at the front making our lives better since many of ours childhood

Hi, I am an IT. this whole flash player deactivation in browsers is being done because they (the browser manufacturers) feel they can. they feel (much like microsoftie and appbull) that their software is a necessity and because of that, no matter what they do, You as a user will be forced to accept it, and like it.

this is not the case. I am currently running Firefox 51.0 with all auto-updates turned off and blocked. if need be i have the full flash 51 offline installer and can block mozilla's servers in the firewall rules. Firefox 51.0 allows flashplayer to be installed.

downsides, in order to try to enforce the "update to the newest version and stay a slave" craze they have pushed for changes to HTML code words and some javascript wording or syntax changes. this means that some buttons do not work.

pros? you can install all your beloved addons from the past, yes, the fully functional adblockers and script blockers which allow you to select elements on a page you wish to block and set rules. oh and advanced cookie manager to modify and delete cookies to get rid of trackers.

In the modern age software developers want you to think that it's normal and acceptable for them to patch spyware into their distros to sell your information to advertisers, because "everyone is doing it".

fix? don't upgrade.

when they say "security upgrade", they mean "Our Financial Security, not your computer's security"

so yeah, I have flashplayer in my browser in 2020. and it wont be being disabled.

I also suggest installing a browser spoofer (user agent spoofer) addon in Firefox, for those nasty sites with browser version checking. with a user agent spoofer you can select what browser version, operating system etc. your browser identifies itself to websites as and get past even the most severe blockades. such as the terrible "Chrome only" pages.

I suggest Noscript as an addon, never activate google analytics. it's just spyware, not necessary to make a site function.

you can also disable ads this way by not loading the ad scripts.

anyone who upgrades and allows their browser maker to disable their flash player is a schlup, meatbot! lambs led to the slaughter.

theres also political reasons they want and have always wanted to kill flash. but most of it is financial. the skinny is this: people block ads. people disable google tracking scripts. according to google's tracking, they said "less and less people are using the internet than ever before" (they are fools, it's more and more people refuse their trackers, so they have no idea what people are really doing), in that same report they noted that less and less people are viewing flash ads. so to them, flash is now useless as a monetary tool. so their idea is "If we can't use it, you shouldn't be able to either".

the political reasons it's being 86ed have to do with creativity and the mass swaths of points of view currently being expressed through flash on platforms (newgrounds, the chans, forums etc.) where they have no control over what is deemed "wrongthink". it's easy to ban an MP4 on youtube. but with the javascript SWFOBJECT() wrapper any website can incorporate flash. so it's about controlling the voice of the internet.

whereas, good luck posting an HTML 5 game on your phpbb forum. hint; it's not supported.

This would limit the venues for such games to websites which allow html5 publishing. putting you at the mercy of webhosting companies and registering you "goodbye anon" style. or forcing you to upload the game to a file host and have people download it. naturally this puts you at the mercy of file host ToS. and many projects get taken down because of some law in the file hosts country which allow them to classify your work as something illegal.

It's about the voice of the internet, will you be silenced? hint they don't like your craziness, they don't like you making games or animations that people play or watch. they control TV, news, book publishing, radio, the only thing they find as a loose cannon is the internet. and they don't like that. especially seeing as it's become a common thing everyone uses today.

Downgrade your browser today! Keep flashplayer!

Downgrade your browser today! Keep flashplayer in your browser!

Update, the only buttons that I have found that don't work in the flashplayer supporting Firefox 51.0 are patreon buttons, but because patreon is banning all it's flash artists I really don't see how that's a bad thing. Downgrade our browser today! Keep Flashplayer in your browser! oldversion.com will have firefox 51.0, this is the last stable release in which the "security updates" can be disabled. any later version will update to the newest version no matter what you do. firefox 51.0 was the last stable release that allowed you to actually turn off addon signing in about:config and have it really mean it. I verify it works with discord, newgrounds and the chans as well as all gaming websites, forums of any variety, twitch, social media sites, youtube, facebook etc., the unity player, flashplayer and yes leekspin.com. If you need another browser for something else, install another browser for those few things firefox 51.0 wont do.

stay safe out there! Keep your flash browsing possible and private!
