That's the internet for you.
Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

Yeah that stinks. Tom are you going to see the Watchmen?
I'm hoping to see it tomorrow!
Yay for larger icons!
Powerusers are *** fags.
I wish that they could implement a system that would allow one to switch the promoted post for the original one. At least some decent users pointed out that the original one is on Newgrounds.
Maybe you should switch for Reddit... :/
Hey Tom, I feel your pain, believe me.
Awhile ago Dan from ArmorGames uploaded our game StarShine onto Digg and it got buried even after having 80 diggs. I was extremely frustrated that a game I knew would get front page on every game portal was having issues while 50 crappy ass games were front paged on digg. When I contacted digg to find out why the game got buried, I got their standard reply on how infallible their digging algorithm is.
Myself, not willing to succumb to defeat, posted the exact same game again to digg but this time the url went to my site. When users came to my site, they were immediately redirected back to StarShine on ArmorGames. Result? The second starshine got front paged, then the next day, the original got front paged, meaning StarShine had two entries both pointing towards armorgames side by side on the front page of digg. Eat that Digg staff!
On another side note, Dan and I have found several times that a single "super user" has buried a game with just one vote even when it might have no other buries and nearly 90 or more diggs accumulated over 2 hours. If memory serves me right, Fancy Pants Adventures on Newgrounds was submitted to Digg, we monitored the blams using third party software, and sure enough a single bury was all it took despite a hundred diggs. How does FPA 2 get buried on Digg?
For these reasons and more, Digg is dead to me. Forever on my black list of sites I won't touch again.
Oh wow... Can you see bury stats on the article page on Digg, as well as info about who voted it down / buried it? I see the +/- stats for individual comments, but I'm not noticing it for the article itself.
And did you guys figure out how to get icons on there? Is it a matter of our icons being too small to be spidered?
WTF is a Digg?
CHECK OUT THAT ANGLE DIS-TANGLE HUHHH???
This infuriated me. I've made digg frontpage a few times where the link has been to some obscure site which has hosted the NG version of a game of mine. At least game programmers don't have to worry about youtube versions...
Yeah I've noticed for a long time now that lots of gaming sites gank stuff off NG and get it posted on Digg. I'm trying to get more on the ball with being first to Digg with the good stuff, but this is an example of how hard that race can be to win. :)
Looking forward to see whos gonna win the tank award.
I really hoped that Philips was gonna come up with something great, and again achieve this award. Thawouldbeawesome.
liberal blogger elitists outnumber people who need the collab right zomg now.
Next time you post something up on digg, you should call NG to arms and ask us to help bolster the "digg this" option...
Colbert has done it (top right corner) <a href="http://www.colbertnation.com/home">http://www.colbertnation.com/home</a>
Psychogoldfish has done it <a href="http://psychogoldfish.newgrounds.com/">http://psychogoldfish.newgrounds.com/
</a> (shamWOW)
Even Robs done it <a href="http://rob.newgrounds.com/">http://rob.newgrounds.com/</a> (doom flash would've probably won on its own merits though...)
USE YOUR MINIONS TOM!! THEY AWAIT YOUR ORDERS!!
yay tank awards!
and yea. people think by posting everything on digg they won't have to go to college and make a living off of being a no-named news poster
To answer one of your question Tom, the Bury button is located under the description of the Digg, at the top of the page. There's a red X icon right besides it.
By a matter of fact, I just buried a duplicate of awesome flash called "Saturday Morning Watchmen"
I see the link to bury stuff, but I don't see any stats on how many people, or who, has tried to bury it (assuming stats aren't available). I guess that's why people run scripts to track that stuff. :)
That sucks. I believe I have a Digg account, haven't used it like at all, but I will see if I can still log on to it and at least give you one more Digg :P
Btw, you might remember me contacting you about the post previewer thingy that I'm making for the forums? Well, I ran into some troubles on the formatting, and I've contacted liljim asking if I could have a look at the source code for that. He haven't gotten back to me though, think you can give him a nudge from me? ;)
"No offense, future man, but is everyone in your time retarded ?"
I guess we have the answer now
AHAHAHAHAHA I'm lovin' it
Yeah, I'm pretty much done with Digg as a user, and it never really worked out for site promotion. The site's user power is too unbalanced. It's almost like a monarchy; The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.
Maybe some digg users need to split off and colonize elsewhere and create the United Sites of The INTERWEB! Reddit will have to do for now u_u
Maybe some day WE'LL be the power users.... Muwahahaha. Ok probably not.
If there's any bright side to this shit-lined cloud Tom, at least the comments that show Newgrounds.com as the proper source are getting very digged up.
Yeah, that part is much appreciated. :)
cant wait for the tankies!
and i dont touch digg. it scares me.
I ain't sayin' Digg a gold Digger
But dey ain't dealin' wit no broke NG-er
lol
jakobhummelen
Yeah, that's fucked up.. I've had issues with Digg also and they're not exactly willing to help ya out.
Fixing the buttons probably helps a lot, I'm not sure how many NG users use Digg but seeing as most of them are very tech-savvy I'd imagine frontpage animations being dugg (?) over 1000 times.
