Nah I mean the "Artist News" box. We're like the only site that gives people their own spot on the front page like that, and they use the opportunity to be like, "Check out my SoundCloud! Check out my DA! etc." instead of posting something of interest within the NG community.

What if instead of handing out the privilege as a permanent thing you hand out 3 or even 1 pass/es per award to front page a blog post? Passes could be stacked and all current restrictions would still be in place concerning front page blogs, but ultimately the users who should be posting on the front page will still be doing so. Maybe something like that would make people think twice about what they post?
Just to expand upon that doing it in the way I stated would give artists of every portal the opportunity to front page a blog because it should be less congested! Maybe artists who get 5 pieces of art featured on the front page get a pass to front page a blog - the artists behind the best of the week in the audio portal would get a pass as well.

Been thinking of alternative systems as well... I like the idea of recurring spaces once you earn it... But I'm also keen on being more iron-fisted with a set of guidelines. My long-term plan is to increase the exposure to the artist news space, but I want to be sure the space is interesting to users, concerns things going on within NG, and isn't just funneling traffic out to other sites.
