Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

I agree(not with mandog about your looks), there should never be vblogging here. I will erect a thousand accounts in order to blam any attempt at vblogging. Also, it's nice to hear that a few artist, game developers, etc. on ng are making their way main stream. Very entertaining interview in my opinion.

oh newgrounds <3
i cant imagine an internet life without it

Make a PC game, or just import one of the console games. Lots of people would by CC off Steam, worked for Meatboy and Binding of Isaac.

Very glad to hear that the video portal will be invite only, I hate vlogs.

Did Tom say Youtube was "way huger" than us?? Grammar Nazi does not approve. Other than that, this is awesome. and I love Newgrounds and I don't know what I would do without it. o.o

Tom, you just summed up everything that I love about newgrounds :)

Love the idea of the mp4 versions for mobile. The HTML5 players for the audio was already an amazing step up.

One thing I always wanted to do, and hope to do one day, is to make videos with additional features, so even after posting to Youtube, you could let viewers know there was additional content (perhaps interactive) on Newgrounds. The goal being to draw Youtube subs to Newgrounds for the fun/interactive stuff youtube can't/doesn't support.

Great interview, Tom. The crazy creation you spoke about, the spirit of newgrounds ... yup.

You don't look like your avatar :<

Your voice makes me hard.

Tom, there appears to be an Elf right next to you... Were you aware of the Elf right next to you? I think she's trying to video bomb your shit because she's nothing. NOTHING. Compared to you. Elven whore.

Mr Fulp, did your mouth feel dry from talking so much?

Do you notice how much you use your hands when you talk?

Did your back hurt from standing throughout this entire interview? I have a weak back and it hurts when I stand for an extended period of time.

What even is PAX? I really don't understand.

Did you become nervous/uncomfortable at 09:31 when the person in the red jacket crept into shot?

How did you feel when, at 10:05, the interviewer said "Um....that sounds fantastic"?

I think you smiled throughout the entire interview, did your face hurt at any point?

Thank you. I would be very grateful if you could answer some of my questions. Not all of them mind, I understand that you're busy. I would be happy with three or more of them being answered.

I really look better head-on and without flat hair, or maybe my hair has just thinned out that much I dunno what's going on there.

I didn't notice the elf.

My mouth was dry by the end of the day, a few hours later.

I know I use my hands too much, I try not to but I'm a constant ball of twitching nervous energy.

My back hurt by the end of the day from standing all weekend.

PAX is the Penny Arcade Expo, a place where people can go see video games.

I'm always nervous / uncomfortable.

I dunno how I felt at 10:05.

My face did not hurt but I really need to smile less, my smile is itself a nervous twitch.

D: !!! Your avatar is a liar.....

Great interview! Nice to hear some more history behind the site.

so! does that mean it's a bad time to be considered as an audio artist for future projects? :3
DUUUUUHHHHHHH! :0

Ding ding ding ding ding

You still a shy kid Tom

Hey, I've seen this guy bloggin it up on other sites!

He's great, he asks cool questions and is better at interviewing than most of the boring promotional dudes out there you usually get with game stuff.
I bet people are gonna complain about invite-only video stuff, but the way you said it here; I can see why it's necessary.

Tom Fulp's Newgrounds is like that crazy uncle that tells you funny cock jokes and cool advices of how to pick-up women. Then you put those advice in practice and start making people laugh and fornicating with many hot babes, hell, you even get married with one of them!

Then, after many years, your wife will ask you where did you learned that "funny coke joke" that made her fall deeply in love with you. And you'll look to the sky and say: "My Crazy Uncle Tom taught it to me". But you are not looking to the sky because he is dead, no way, you're looking at his master penthouse, and you can see Tom with sunglasses and bottle of Chateau dâEUTMYquem, and he smiles at you.

Moral of the story: Always support Newgrounds or else you'll NOT get invited to the Luxury Pico Day in his master penthouse.

Is there some way to visualize an artist's history of releases through time? I like the comment you made about helping people see what an artist has done to get where he's at today. Facebook timeline is terrible, we need something horizontal :-D

People don't like horizontal scrollbars so it would have to be something flashy that pans back and forth as your mouse moves over it, or something... Would be worth trying a mock-up based on some user data... Could also overlay the thumbnails over a view count graph so you can see the rise and fall of their popularity. This is where I really kick myself for not having content traffic data based on individual time periods - like we know if something had a million views but not if 600,000 of those views happened in one week of a specific year. Always intend to store that info but has never been tackled, except for the API view tracking for people who use that.

I'm glad to hear you will be adding support for HTML5 games. Regardless of technologies, the creativity and Newgrounds spirit lives on !

Good show

If it werent for Newgrounds I wouldnt have taken art seriously, nor progressed with it. So much great artists got there start here. Thats one awesome thing about Newgrounds, your able to grow here :P
