Hi there! In case you didn't know, I created newgrounds. No, it wasn't made by some giant company - just some dumb kid who now has help. I also co-founded the Behemoth; we made Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. Icon by Pegosho, banner by OmenaKettu.

Paranoid much?

On November 29th, Funy-Mony unveiled his Gunny Bears stop motion.

Three days later, Google & Universal-owned start-up Vevo.com released this promo:

The question is, could a crack team of Hollywood talent have thrown that together in three days? Did they?

Comments

lol absolutely not a coincidence. That can be done in 3 days with enough man power and it's just too close to Funy-Mony's version for it to be a coinkidink

I smell a conspiracy...

...Which is strange when you consider that Gummy bears don't really have much of a smell to them.

I smell shenanigans.

Dammit, KillerDraco just beat me to the word 'smell'.

very impressive yes

while I doubt that you could do this in 3 days (unless there were a lot of people involved) i do believe this short could have been home made because the materials used are pretty common stuff you would find around your house/garden.
and the VEVO thing at the ending added digitaly later of course.

well its not like its a totally original idea or anything

im sure someone like PES has done it a thousand times over

I do believe that means I win.

three days sounds reasonable

pretty freaky :O

Law suit! WOO HOO!

...Why not? :/

Funy-Mony's is better.

nobody steals ideas anymore, noob. welcome to the internet.
also yes it can be done in three days. especially if you're being paid to get it done in three days. and your day job is to animate gummy bears. if you animate gummy bears for a living, and it's your job and your hobby, you could get it done in 3 days with the help of a couple of friends.

but everything on the internet is totally original. and everything used in marketing is totally original. although this looks like maybe it was stolen from a David Firth cartoon.

It could be, who knows, there have been many things like that happening, like that one game on NG, I forget what its called, its a platformer where things are slightly different in the reflection, and some company made a game with the exact same concept for the DS. Who Knows....

P.S. Thanks for the Cheque

i think it's just weird timing for both to come out next to each other, that happens a lot and most times neither companies know about each other and what their ideas were.

personally i don't think they did that in 3 days, that's too quick for full production

Yeah there was this weekend when Ego was in town and we kept talking about doing a Turbo Teen movie where Ego turns into a car... Then like four days later there was a Turbo Teen spoof on a G4 promo and it was like man, we would have spent all week on that video only to look like we ripped off G4.

So I do think there's a very good chance it's coincidence, but I also think it's possible to make something like that with a three day full-court press. Even if it was, it just makes it a compliment to FM's clever idea.

Considering I can do that promo in my fucking basement in three days with lots of alcohol in me... Yeah. They stole this shit dogg1!1

Hmm...
They're both gummy bears fighting a war...
I don't think thats similar enough...

and funy-mony's is better

Easily could've been done in 3 days.

I did a 2 1/2 minute Lego stop motion project of the Public Enemies trailer in 15 straight hours for my Grade 12 film final. Aced it.

This was only 30 seconds long.

Actually this one group of two girls in my time-based media class made a gummy bears stopmotion film where they fought off a tomato and we viewed it about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

This is a funny coincidence though :P Stop-motion does take awhile however, and this is easily possible in 3 days. 30 seconds at this frame rate...It took my and my friend 7 hours to make a 2 minute video at a slightly lower frame rate than this.

Funy-Mony needs to sue them, it's about time someone got to turn the tables!

Also, they are rich enough to literally SHIFT TIME and make it to where his came out after theirs somehow, and then they'll be suing him. So he needs to get to the suing for his own safety really.
